Leveraging Expertise into a New Market(2009 Avid Technology)Looking to expand on the success and market leadership of their studio reference monitors, M-Audio decided to enter the live sound market by developing a line of self-powered PA speakers. As the lead designer I worked closely with product managers and acoustic experts to develop a design language that would satisfy the needs of a very diverse user base. M-Audio GSR Series Loudspeakers
A Crowded MarketAs a new entry in an already crowded market the GSR line sought to distinguish itself on all levels, including aesthetics. In order to leverage existing credibility from the studio monitor market and satisfy a diverse and often divergent user base, a design language was developed for the family that is intended to be differentiated without being divisive.
User Needs, Mobility and the Live Sound EnvironmentBy engaging end-users, visiting multiple usage environments (small venues, house-parties, outdoor/street, public speaking) a thorough understanding of unmet user needs was obtained to guide the design effort.
